What's the difference between a production number and a VIN?

Your vehicle order is given a production number when it is assigned a production week at the factory.  After the vehicle enters production, it will receive a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). You can track the status of your new BMW order using the My BMW App or at MyBMW.com.
