What are the requirements for using Plug & Charge with Shell Recharge, Tesla Superchargers, and IONNA?

Follow these activation steps and enjoy the most convenient way to charge:    

  1. Determine your BMW EV’s Plug & Charge eligibility. All model year 2025 and newer BMW EVs are eligible for Plug & Charge. For previous model years, determine whether Plug & Charge is available for your vehicle. 

  1. Set up your BMW ID. If you haven’t already, set up your BMW ID from your BMW EV. Download or open the My BMW App and add your new electric BMW (or access your current vehicle) within the app. 

  1. Create a Shell Recharge account.  

    1. Open the My BMW App.

    2. On vehicle status page, scroll to “Charging” section and click “More”. Once in the Charging menu, scroll down to “Services” and click on “Shell Recharge”.

    3. Select “Create an Account” and confirm Shell Recharge’s access to your My BMW App data.  

    4. Enter your credit card details and confirm. 

Please note: Upon creating an account, a Plug & Charge contract will be sent to your vehicle (may take up to 24 hours). 

  1. Activate Plug & Charge from your vehicle in iDrive. From the iDrive menu, select Apps > Charging > Plug & Charge > Available Contract > Download and Use.   

 

Plug & Charge will be enabled for all BMW IDs on your vehicle, including Guest profiles, by default.
