After completing a Remote Software Upgrade, the Remote Engine Start is no longer working in my BMW. How do I reactivate it?

After completing a Remote Software Upgrade in your vehicle, the iDrive will reset to factory settings. You will need to update your settings to reactivate Remote Engine Start by performing the following steps.  

iDrive 7:
  • Via iDrive: "CAR"
  • "Settings"
  • "Climate control"
  • "Preconditioning/ventilation"
  • If necessary, "Remote Engine Start"
  • "Starting engine for climate control"
  • Confirm the disclaimer.

iDrive 8/8.5:
  • Via iDrive: Apps menu
  • "Vehicle apps"
  • "Climate control"
  • "Settings"
  • "Pre-conditioning"
  • "Pre-conditioning for departure"
  • Confirm the disclaimer.

iDrive 9:
  • Via iDrive: "Climate menu"
  • "Settings"
  • "Pre-conditioning"
  • "Remote Engine Start"
  • "Start engine for climate control"
  • Confirm the disclaimer.
