Certain Model Year 2006-2012 BMW 3 Series Sedan and Sports Wagon models in the US are potentially affected by Recall 24V-513 Driver’s Front Air Bag Module. Some customers may have switched their original steering wheel which was not affected, to the sport , or M-sport, steering wheel which may include a potentially affected inflator.
Your vehicle may have a certain Takata driver air bag inflator IF the steering wheel was previously replaced. The driver air bag module will be checked and, if a certain Takata inflator is found, it will be replaced.
There are currently two options available. You may visit an authorized BMW Center. Or, for your convenience, we have also created a website where you can submit documents in order for us to determine if you need to have your driver air bag replaced. Please visit bmwrecallsteeringwheel.expertinquiry.com and follow the instructions to submit images of your VIN and steering wheel. A BMW Representative will review your submission and then let you know if a FREE repair at an authorized BMW Center is necessary.
Note: Recalls are VIN-specific, and you can find the latest info for your vehicle at bmwusa.com/recall or NHTSA.gov and entering 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number. To ensure that BMW has up-to-date owner contact information, owners should register their vehicles at bmwusa.com/MyBMW. Registration is free and allows access to information about their specific vehicle.
