How do I change the language for the Intelligent Personal Assistant in my BMW with BMW Operating System 8.5 or BMW Operating System 9?

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant (IPA) supports multiple system languages in your BMW and can be set via iDrive with BMW Operating System 8.5 or BMW Operating System 9, offering either a full or limited range of functions.

 

Perform the following to change the system language:

  1. Apps menu
  2. "All"
  3. "Personal Assistant"
  4. "Settings"
  5. "Language"
  6. Select the desired setting

Please Note:

  • The Personal Assistant provides information about vehicle functions that may not be installed in the vehicle. This also applies to safety functions and systems.
  • Certain noises can be detected and may lead to problems. Keep the doors, windows, and glass sunroof closed.
  • Noises from the front passenger or occupants can impair the system. Avoid making other noise in the vehicle while speaking.
  • Major language dialects can cause problems with the speech recognition feature.
  • A poor data connection influences the response time of the Personal Assistant and the Search.
