How do I use the Automatic Park Assistant in my BMW with BMW Operating System 9?

With the Automatic Park Assistant, finding and securing a parking spot has never been easier.

  1. Press the Parking Assistant button located on your center console.
  2. Once activated, your BMW will begin scanning for a suitable parking space as you drive. Automatic Park Assistant is designed to locate parallel, perpendicular, or diagonal parking spaces. Whether you're parking forward or reversing into a spot, the system will only recognize the space once you've driven past it. 
  3. When a suitable space is found, you'll hear a chime, and available options will appear on your iDrive screen.
  4. Come to a complete stop and confirm the type of parking maneuver you prefer in the central display screen. 
  5. The system expertly handles steering, acceleration, braking, and gearshifts to park your vehicle with precision and ease, as long as you are buckled up. Once the parking maneuver is complete, your BMW will automatically shift into park and notify you.
  6. When it's time to leave, use the Automatic Park Assistant to position the vehicle so you can safely pull out of the parking spot in the desired direction.
