How do I enable or disable the Auto Start Stop function in my 2025 BMW X5 M60i?

The Auto Start/Stop function helps save fuel. The system switches off the engine during a stop, for instance in traffic jam or at traffic lights. Drive-ready state remains switched on. The engine starts automatically for driving off.

 

Perform the following in your 2025 BMW X5 M60i to disable or enable Auto Start Stop:

Via Button: Press the “A OFF” button on the center console

  • When the button is illuminated, the Auto Start/Stop function is deactivated.
  • When the LED is off, Auto Start/Stop function is enabled.

Via selector lever position: The Auto Start/Stop function is also disabled in selector lever position S.

Via iDrive Screen:

  1. Apps menu
  2. "Vehicle"
  3. "Driving settings"
  4. "Drivetrain and chassis"
  5. "Auto Start/Stop"
  6. Select the desired setting.

 

Please Note: Switching to Sport mode automatically disables Auto Start/Stop.
