What are the M modes in my BMW M vehicle?

With the M modes "ROAD", "SPORT" or "TRACK" (available depending on the equipment), you can adjust the displays and driver assistance systems in your BMW M vehicle with Operating System 8, depending on the situation. In "ROAD" mode, all driver assistance and safety systems are activated. In "SPORT" mode, informative driver assistance systems remain activated, while driver assistance systems for active intervention are temporarily deactivated. In "TRACK" mode, driver assistance systems, safety systems and other functions such as radio and the control display are deactivated. The displays in the instrument cluster are adapted to the selected "M mode".

 

Perform the following to select a driving mode:

  • ROAD and SPORT drive modes can only be enabled when drive-ready state is switched on.
  • TRACK drive mode can only be enabled when the vehicle is stationary or driving at a very low speed.
  1. Press the 'M Mode' button.
  2. Select the desired setting.

In addition, the collision warning systems can be adjusted.
