Using the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, how do I set third-party voice control in my BMW with BMW Operating System 8 and newer?

Depending on vehicle equipment, third-party voice control can be enabled by pressing and holding the microphone button on the steering wheel.

 

BMW Operating System 9:

Perform the following in the iDrive menus after initiating the microphone button:

  1. Apps menu
  2. "Vehicle"
  3. "System Settings"
  4. "Voice Control"
  5. Select the desired setting

 

 

In BMW Operating System 8/8.5:

Perform the following in the iDrive menus after initiating the microphone button:

  1. Apps menu
  2. "Vehicle"
  3. "System settings"
  4. "Voice control"
  5. "Long press"
  6. Select the desired setting.
