Using the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, how do I set online speech processing in my BMW with BMW Operating System 8 and newer?

Online speech processing improves the quality of the speech recognition and search results for points of interest. To use the functions, data is transmitted to a service provider via an encrypted connection and stored locally there. An active ConnectedDrive contract is required for online voice processing. 

 

In BMW Operating System 9:

Perform the following in the iDrive menu to online speech processing:

  1. Apps menu
  2. "All"
  3. "Personal Assistant"
  4. "Settings"
  5. "General"
  6. "Online speech processing"

 

In BMW Operating System 8 and BMW Operating System 8.5:

Perform the following in the iDrive menu to online speech processing:

  1. Apps menu
  2. "Vehicle"
  3. "System settings"
  4. "Voice control"
  5. "Personal Assistant (BMW)"
  6. "Online speech processing"
