BMW has approved the use of the Lectron Vortex Plus adapter which allows your BMW to charge at NACS equipped charging stations. Here is how to use it:
- Add the adapter to your My BMW App settings by navigating to Charging > Adapters > Add Adapter and select the “NACS (DC)” adapter. This will trigger the app and your vehicle to enable and include NACS stations in all search results and navigation routing.
- When at a NACS charging station, remove the charging cable from the station and attach your adapter to the connector. Press down firmly until it engages. Then, connect the charging cable with adapter to the vehicle’s charging socket.
- The charging indicator light on the vehicle will turn orange, indicating it is waiting for charging initialization. Charging may take up to 1 minute to initiate. When charging starts, the light will flash blue to show that charging is in progress.
- To disconnect: First stop the charging session via the app or the stop button next to your charging socket. Press the upper release button on the adapter and disconnect the charging cable together with the adapter. Then, press the lower release button on the adapter and remove it from the charging cable.
