What is the NACS Remote Software Upgrade, and when will I receive it?

The NACS RSU (version 25-11-530) is required in order to enable NACS charging and is expected to begin rolling out on 12/01/2025. If a customer has not yet received the upgrade, they should first verify the vehicle’s eligibility for Tesla Superchargers and ensure the vehicle software is up to date prior to the RSU rollout. The update may take a few days to reach your vehicle. After receiving the RSU and activating the adapter through the My BMW App, customers will be able to charge at available Tesla Superchargers displayed in the app.

 

Important Note: Due to differences in factory equipped hardware, model year 2026 i5 40e/x and iX will receive the NACS RSU in early summer 2026. Drivers of these models will receive direct app and vehicle communications as soon as the RSU is available.
