Each New BMW electric vehicle comes with a Flexible Fast Charger located in the trunk of the vehicle.
Prepare the Charger: Unwind the charging cable from the charger and ensure it is free of any tangles or obstructions. The Flexible Fast Charger comes with multiple adapters to accommodate different power outlet types. If needed, swap the adapter by pressing the release button on the current adapter and attaching the desired one.
Connect to Power Source: Plug the other end of the charging cable into a suitable power outlet. The charger is compatible with both 120V and 240V (NEMA 14-50) electrical outlets. Using a 240V (NEMA 14-50) outlet will provide faster charging speeds.
Connect to the Vehicle: Locate the charging port on your BMW vehicle, usually located behind a cover on the rear fender. Open the cover and plug the charging connector into the vehicle's charging port.
Initiate Charging: Once the charger is connected to both the vehicle and the power source, the charging process will begin automatically. The charger's indicator lights will show the charging status.
Monitor Charging: Keep an eye on the charger's indicator lights to ensure the charging is progressing as expected. The charger will automatically stop charging once the vehicle's battery is fully charged or the set charging limit has been met.
Hint: The My BMW App will also send you a push notification once a charging session has been initiated.
Disconnect the Charger: When the charging is complete, first disconnect the charger from the vehicle, and then disconnect it from the power outlet.
Store the Charger: Neatly wind the charging cable back onto the charger and store it in a safe, dry place for future use.
Remember to consult your BMW Owner’s Manual for any specific instructions or safety precautions related to using the Flexible Fast Charger with your vehicle.
