How do I link my vehicle key with my BMW ID in BMW Operating System 8?

Link your vehicle key to your BMW ID to get your individual settings loaded automatically.

You can link one physical keyfob and several digital keys, such as a BMW Digital Key Card, a BMW Digital Key Plus on your iPhone or a BMW Digital Key on an Android Smartphone, to the same BMW ID. Multiple drivers of the same car can link their own BMW ID to a different vehicle key.

 

To get started:

  1. Open the door
  2. Click on your BMW ID picture in the top right corner
  3. Select "Manage BMW IDs" and choose your BMW ID
  4. Now select settings
  5. "Driver recognition"
  6. Set a pin to protect your settings
  7. Select "Link key" to see all available keys
You can link one physical key fob and several digital keys to your BMW ID. Make sure not to carry any other key fob with you except the one you want to link otherwise the system would have a hard time recognizing the right key. From now on when unlocking and entering the car with your linked key your personal settings will be in place and you'll be welcomed by name and with an individual profile picture.
