How do I manually activate or deactivate Cross Traffic Warning in my BMW with BMW Operating System 8 or newer?

For equipped vehicles, cross traffic warning in your BMW supports you at confusing exits or when driving out of perpendicular parking spaces. Approaching road users such as cyclists or other vehicles are detected sooner by the cross traffic warning than is possible from the driver's seat. The rear area is monitored by sensors. Depending on the vehicle equipment, the area around the vehicle in front of the vehicle is monitored as well. The system indicates approaching road users. 

 

Perform the following in the iDrive menu to activate/deactivate Cross Traffic Warning:

 

BMW Operating System 8:

  1. Apps menu
  2. "Vehicle"
  3. "Driving settings"
  4. "Driver Assistance"
  5. "Parking and maneuvering"
  6. Depending on the equipment, select the following setting:
    • "Rear warning"
    • "Front and rear warning"

 

 

BMW Operating System 8.5/9:

  1. Apps menu
  2. "Vehicle"
  3. "Driving settings"
  4. "Driver Assistance"
  5. "Parking"
  6. Depending on the equipment, select the following setting:
    • "Rear warning"
    • "Front and rear warning"
    • "Brake intervention at rear"
