How do I link my key with my Driver Profile?

iDrive 7:

Please ensure that you are logged into your Driver Profile by following the below steps:

  • Via iDrive: "CAR"
  • "Driver profiles"
  • Move the Controller to the right.
  • "Add driver profile"
  • An existing ConnectedDrive account must be assigned to a driver profile. If a ConnectedDrive account has not yet been created, the account can be created via a smartphone. A QR code will be displayed on the Control Display for this purpose. The creation of the driver profile can continue with the access data of the created ConnectedDrive account.

In order to activate linkage for the Driver Profile to the key fob or Digital Keys, please follow the below steps:

  • Via iDrive: "CAR"
  • "Driver profiles"
  • Move the Controller to the right.
  • As an alternative for Steps 1 to 3, the profile image can be tapped in the top status bar.
  • "Driver recognition"
  • "with vehicle key" The vehicle key that was used to unlock the vehicle is assigned to the driver profile.
  • "Activate linkage"
  • As soon as the vehicle recognizes the vehicle key, the corresponding driver profile will be activated.

If after attempting these steps you still have concerns, please contact your local BMW service center for further assistance. 

 

BMW Operating System 8/8.5:

Please ensure that you are logged into your Driver Profile by following the below steps:

  • Via iDrive: Apps menu
  • "BMW ID"
  • "Add BMW ID"
  • An existing ConnectedDrive account must be assigned to a driver profile. If a ConnectedDrive account has not yet been created, the account can be created via a smartphone. A QR code will be displayed on the Control Display for this purpose. The creation of the driver profile can continue with the access data of the created ConnectedDrive account.

 

In order to activate linkage for the Driver Profile to the key fob or Digital Keys, please follow the below steps:

  • Via iDrive: Apps menu
  • "BMW ID"
  • "Settings"
  • "Driver recognition"
  • "with vehicle key" The vehicle key that was used to unlock the vehicle is assigned to the driver profile.
  • "Activate linkage"
  • As soon as the vehicle recognizes the vehicle key, the corresponding driver profile will be activated.
