How do I check the engine oil level in my BMW with BMW Opertaing System 7 and newer?

Monitoring

Perform the following in the iDrive menu to display the engine oil level while driving:

1. "Apps menu" or "CAR"
2. "Vehicle" (For Operating System 8 or newer)
3. "Vehicle status"
4. "Engine oil level"

The engine oil level is displayed.

Detailed Measurement

The following is required to display a detailed measurement of the engine oil:

• Vehicle is parked in a horizontal position.
• The drive-ready state is switched on by pressing the Start/Stop button.
• The engine is at operating temperature.
• Selector lever in selector lever position N or P and accelerator pedal not depressed.

Perform the following in the iDrive menu to display a detailed measurement of the engine oil while stationary:

1. Apps menu or "CAR"
2. "Vehicle" (For Operating System 8 or newer)
3. "Vehicle status"
4. "Engine oil level"
5. "Oil level measurement"
6. "Start measurement"

The engine oil level is checked and displayed via a scale.

Please Note: If the engine oil level is outside its permissible operating range, a Check Control message is displayed.
