How do I activate or deactivate the Side Collision Mitigation in my BMW with BMW Operating System 8 or newer?

The side-collision warning helps you to keep your BMW with Operating System 8 or newer in its lane. The driver assistance system also supports you in actively avoiding possible side collisions through steering wheel vibration and steering intervention. The camera behind the windshield detects the lane boundaries. The system also warns you by means of a flashing LED in the exterior mirror. Further information on the side-collision warning can be found in the BMW Driver’s Guide App or in the operating instructions for your BMW.

 

Perform the following in the iDrive menu to turn the side collision warning on/off:

  1. Apps menu
  2. "Vehicle"
  3. "Driving settings"
  4. "Driver Assistance"
  5. "Safety and warnings"
  6. "Side collision warning"
  7. Select the desired setting.
