How do I charge my BMW with Electrify America?

When charging with Electrify America there are three ways to start a charging session and a few ways to stop it.  All you need is BMW ID connected to your vehicle and an active Electrify America complimentary charging plan.

Plug & Charge:  With BMW’s Plug & Charge, you no longer have to use an app or interact with the charging station. Once you’ve activated the feature in iDrive, the next time you park at the Electrify America charging station, a confirmation will be displayed in iDrive, indicating Plug & Charge is available. Simply plug in your BMW, and walk away. Your BMW will automatically communicate with the charger and begin the charging session.

Click & Charge:  With BMW's Click & Charge feature through the My BMW app, you no longer have to interact with the charging station screen. Simply choose the charger you parked in front of, initiate the session through the app, and plug in. Open the my BMW App. 

  1. Open the My BMW App
  2. Scroll to "Charging" and tap "Charge here" 
  3. Select the socket you are parked in front ot. 
  4. Tap "Agree & Begin Charging"
  5. Connect the charger to your vehicle.

The BMW Apple Wallet Charging Card:  Perform the steps below to Add Apple Wallet Charging Card.

  1. Open the My BMW App
  2. Scroll to and select "Charging" 
  3. Under "Services" select "Electrify America"
  4. Select "Manage My Plans" (Please note you will be directed to the Electrify America site.)
  5. Select "Payment and Apple Wallet"
  6. Under Digital Wallet tap "Add to Apple Wallet" 
  7. Tap "Continue"
  8. Select "Allow" then "Add"

When you arrive at the charging station, connect the charger to your vehicle.  Open the pass in your Digital Wallet, and hold your phone in front of the NFC reader located on the charger.

 

STOP a charging session:  There are multiple ways to stop a charging session. 

  1. Select "STOP" in the charging section of the My BMW app.  
  2. Press the stop button next to the charging port on your vehicle (if equipped).
  3. Select "Stop" at the charging station itself.
  4. Through iDrive:  Tap "Charging App" > "Unlock charging cable" > "Stop and unlock charging cable"

Unplug the charging cable from your BMW.
