Can I link my Digital Key to my driver profile?

Yes, your BMW Digital Key can be paired with your driver profile.  Please note:  Each profile can only be linked to a single device using Digital Key.

 

Perform the following steps to link your Digital Key to your Driver Profile.

 

BMW Operating System iDrive 7

Please first ensure that you are logged into your Driver Profile by following the below steps:

  • Via iDrive: "CAR"
  • "Driver profiles"
  • Move the Controller to the right.
  • As an alternative for Steps 1 to 3, the profile image can be tapped in the top status bar.
  • Select your driver profile or choose: "Add driver profile"
  • An existing ConnectedDrive account must be assigned to a driver profile. If a ConnectedDrive account has not yet been created, the account can be created via a smartphone. A QR code will be displayed on the Control Display for this purpose. The creation of the driver profile can continue with the access data of the created ConnectedDrive account.

 

In order to activate linkage for the Driver Profile to the key fob or Digital Keys, please follow the below steps:

  • Via iDrive: "CAR"
  • "Driver profiles"
  • Move the Controller to the right.
  • As an alternative for Steps 1 to 3, the profile image can be tapped in the top status bar.
  • "Driver recognition"
  • "With vehicle key" or "With Digital Key" The vehicle key that was used to unlock the vehicle is assigned to the driver profile.
  • "Activate linkage"
  • As soon as the vehicle recognizes the vehicle key, the corresponding driver profile will be activated.  

 

BMW Operating System 8/8.5/9

Please first ensure that you are logged into your Driver Profile by following the below steps:

  • Via iDrive: Apps menu
  • "BMW ID"
  • Select your BMW ID or "Add BMW ID"
  • An existing ConnectedDrive account must be assigned to a driver profile. If a ConnectedDrive account has not yet been created, the account can be created via a smartphone. A QR code will be displayed on the Control Display for this purpose. The creation of the driver profile can continue with the access data of the created ConnectedDrive account.
