I would like to purchase a ConnectedDrive Upgrade for my BMW, which is an older Model Year. Will I incur any costs other than the cost of the ConnectedDrive Upgrade?

When purchasing a ConnectedDrive Upgrade for an older Model Year BMW model, certain vehicle conditions may need to be addressed before the ConnecteDrive Upgrade installation can be completed. Because of this, additional costs may be incurred. This may include, but is not limited to:

 

  • Battery Capacity: The vehicle’s battery capacity needs to be sufficient to sustain the upgrade process. If the battery’s capacity is too low, this might require maintaining the battery capacity or battery replacement before the update can be installed, which could lead to extra costs.
  • Vehicle Software:  If your BMW vehicle's software level is outdated, the ConnectedDrive Upgrade installation process may fail to begin. You should first ensure your vehicles is at the highest available software level via the Remote Software Upgrade menu in your BMW. You may also choose to have your BMW vehicle's software updated at your BMW Center, which may incur additional costs.
  • Aftermarket Components: Certain aftermarket components, incorrectly installed components, or software can interact with BMW systems and cause the installation of a ConnectedDrive Upgrade to fail. This condition will need to be diagnosed by a BMW dealership, which could lead to extra costs.
  • Unrepaired Component Failure: The systems in BMW vehicles are highly interconnected and a current fault in any major component could affect the installation of a ConnectedDrive Upgrade.
  • Other Requirements: Depending on specific vehicle conditions, there might be other technical prerequisites or hardware compatibility checks necessary before BMW ConnectedDrive Upgrade installation.
