Your BMW electric vehicle features battery heat management for optimized DC charging. In this process, the temperature of the high-voltage battery is optimally adjusted for an upcoming charging stop in order to increase the DC charging power immediately after plugging into the charging post and to shorten the charging time. The battery heat management for optimized DC charging starts automatically when a DC charging station is entered as the navigation destination or by activating it in the "Charging" menu. For vehicles with a production date from 07/2024, you can also activate the function in the My BMW App.
Perform the following to automatically activate or manually deactivate battery heat management:
1. Apps menu
2. "Vehicle"
3. "Charging"
4. "Pre-condition battery"
5. Select the desired setting.
Please note: Under certain conditions, you cannot manually start the battery heat management for optimized DC charging of your BMW electric vehicle. This includes, but is not limited to: The range is too low, the state of charge of the high-voltage battery is too high, the temperature of the high-voltage battery is already sufficiently controlled, the "MaxRange" function of the My Mode "Efficient" is active or your BMW is already charging. In addition, preheating/precooling may already be active by entering a DC charging station as the navigation destination. In this case, a renewed manual activation is not necessary.
The "battery heat management for optimized DC charging" function is available in BMW models with BMW Operating System 8, BMW Operating System 8.5 and BMW Operating System 9.
