If the charging process for your BMW electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle does not start with the standard equipped charging cable and the red "Fault" indicator light flashes, first disconnect the vehicle charging plug from the vehicle charging socket. Then unplug the main plug of the charging unit from the wall socket and wait at least five seconds. Plug the main plug back into the socket and wait until the "Power" indicator light on the charging unit lights up continuously. Plug the vehicle charging plug back into the vehicle charging socket. The charging process starts automatically. If the red "Fault" indicator light flashes continuously, refer to the operating instructions for further causes and possible solutions for malfunctions. If problems persist, the service team at your local BMW Center can provide technical assistance.
