Can I charge my BMW electric vehicle at public charging stations with Plug & Charge?

Depending on the model and equipment, with Plug & Charge, your BMW electric vehicle authenticates itself independently at public charging stations via your charging contract stored in the vehicle. The charging process starts automatically after inserting the charging cable. To check the availability for your BMW electric vehicle in the My BMW App, select:

 

  • "Vehicle" (tab)
  • "Charging"
  • "Plug & Charge" ("Help").

 

The "Plug & Charge" function is available for vehicles with BMW Operating System 8.5 and BMW Operating System 9. The charging station and your charging contract must support the "Plug & Charge" function.
