Can I also charge and discharge my BMW electric vehicle using bidirectional Wallboxes from third-party providers?

Charging at Wallboxes from third-party providers is generally possible, provided they comply with the relevant vehicle and infrastructure standards. However, at launch, bidirectional charging will only be possible using the BMW Wallbox Professional with a BMW electric vehicle that supports bidirectional charging.


At a later date, bidirectional charging will also be possible at Wallboxes from third-party providers. Work is currently underway to implement the required standard, ISO 15118-20, in compatible BMW electric vehicles.
