Does the BMW Wallbox Professional need to have an Internet connection? What happens if the Internet connection fails?

Yes. A stable Internet connection is important for the BMW Wallbox Professional to allow Wallbox settings to be managed in the My BMW App, view charging statistics, keep software up-to-date, and enable remote support when needed.

The BMW Wallbox Professional can be connected to the Internet via LAN or Wi-Fi. If the Internet connection temporarily fails, charging may still be possible, but some connected features may be limited. Backup power through the BMW Home Backup System Professional remains available without an Internet connection
