The highway assistant in your BMW supports you on controlled access highways up to a speed of 85 mph and makes your steering effort easier. On suitable routes, your BMW independently maintains the desired speed, the lane and the distance to the vehicle in front. You can take your hands off the steering wheel as long as you keep a close eye on the surrounding traffic. This is continuously monitored by an intelligent interior camera. If you become inattentive, you will first receive a visual and acoustic warning. If you do not respond to this warning, the Emergency Stop Assistant intervenes and brings the vehicle to a safe standstill. Thanks to the displays in the Head-up display and in the instrument display, you can see at any time whether the highway assistant is currently available or activated. After activation, LEDs in the steering wheel give you further visual feedback.
