How do I change the distance to the vehicle in front in my BMW with Operating System 7 and active Cruise Control?

In your BMW with BMW iDrive Operating System 7, you can gradually reduce or increase the distance to the vehicle in front by repeatedly pressing the rocker switch up or down on the steering wheel when Cruise Control is active. The set distance is shown in the instrument cluster and in the BMW Head-up display. (This should have a "+/-" button for distance, not a rocker switch up/down.)
