How does the Lane Change Assistant work in my BMW?

The Lane Change Assistant is a subfunction of the Steering Assistant in your BMW. It supports safely changing lanes, i.e., detecting vehicles in neighboring lanes and performing a lane change, if possible. The system will not allow the vehicle to cross a solid lane marking. Surroundings need to be monitored at all times by the driver.  The Lane Change Assistant of your BMW is available from a speed of 20 mph and only on highway-like roads with structural separation of the lanes, provided road marking is detected.
