Can I overcharge my BMW electrified vehicle by leaving it plugged in?

BMW electrified vehicles are designed to be able to remain plugged into a charger indefinitely, even if the maximum charge level is set to 100%. In this scenario, the vehicle will not overcharge the battery.

However, it is generally recommended to avoid routinely charging the battery to 100% in order to optimize the battery's longevity. The ideal state of charge range is typically between 10% and 80%.

You can conveniently set the target state of charge through the iDrive system or the My BMW App. Once the vehicle reaches the specified target level, the charging will automatically stop, and the vehicle can safely remain plugged in without overcharging the battery.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure the proper care and longevity of your electrified vehicle's battery pack.
