How do the Shy Tech operating elements on the steering wheel of the BMW iX3 (from 11/2025) work?

With the Shy Tech operating elements on the steering wheel of the 2027 BMW iX3, the driver controls the Driver Assistance functions using buttons on the left-hand side and the media and communication functions on the right-hand side. For intuitive operation, the steering wheel buttons are illuminated in different colors and provide haptic feedback. Depending on the operating state of the vehicle, an explanation or operating feedback is displayed in the BMW Panoramic Vision on the driver’s side when the buttons are touched or pressed. Shy Tech enables a new form of display and operation via buttons on the steering wheel. This allows the driver to control more functions comfortably and safely than before without taking their hands off the steering wheel and their eyes off the road.
