Why is the 2026 BMW iX delivered with only one vehicle key?

The 2026 BMW iX will be delivered with just one physical vehicle key. The BMW Digital Key, available for smartphones or smartwatches with iOS or Android operating systems, offers significantly more functionality and is therefore the preferred key for comfortably and securely locking, unlocking, and starting your BMW. This is made possible by ultra-wideband (UWB) radio technology, making a conventional car key superfluous.

The BMW Digital Key Plus is even easier to set up with the new Setup Card. Simply hold the card up to your smartphone or scan the QR code on the back. The BMW Digital Key Plus can be shared digitally with up to 18 persons with individually definable rights and offers additional control functions via the My BMW App in the vicinity of the vehicle.
