How do I enter a navigation destination in my BMW?

Depending on which BMW Operating System your vehicle has, perform the following steps.

BMW iDrive 7:

1. Press the "NAV" button on the Controller.
2. "Where to?"
3. Enter at least two letters or characters. Select point of interest categories from the points of interest menu as needed. The search term may be completed automatically in orange lettering. Tilt the Controller up to accept the suggested search term.
4. Select the "OK" icon, if needed. A list of the results is displayed.
5. If necessary, "Filter"
6. "Show results"
7. Select the desired entry.
8. If necessary, "Start guidance" 

BMW Operating System 8 and BMW Operating System 8.5:

1. Navigation menu
2. "Destination input" A search box and entered information such as the search history are displayed.
3. Select the desired entry or the search box.
4. When selecting the search box, enter characters or choose one of the POI categories displayed. If necessary, select "OK" to display more information, e.g. to preview a map. Apply the suggested search keywords as necessary
5. Select the desired entry.
6. "Start guidance" 

BMW Operating System 9:

1. Go to the Navigation menu.
2. Select the search field.
3. Enter your desired destination.
4. Start destination guidance. More information may be displayed.
