You can search for a destination in the navigation system of your BMW with BMW iDrive Operating System 7 manually by entering it into the search bar of BMW Maps or BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant voice activation system.
Perform the following to search for a destination in your BMW with BMW iDrive Operating System 7:
- Press the "NAV" button on the Controller.
- "Where to?"
- Enter at least two letters or characters. Select point of interest categories from the points of interest menu as needed. The search term may be completed automatically in orange lettering. Tilt the Controller up to accept the suggested search term.
- Select the "OK" icon, if needed. A list of the results is displayed.
- If necessary, "Filter"
- "Show results"
- Select the desired entry.
- If necessary, "Start guidance"
Alternatively, you can press the button on the steering wheel briefly to initiate BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant or say, "Drive me to the nearest pharmacy" or "Take me home."
Destination Input Notes
- The desired destination can be spoken in one command or successively.
- Addresses can be spelled, even when the configured language of the system is different.
- For destinations in the same town/city, indicating the street is sufficient. The system will apply the current town/city automatically.
- You can search for points of interest using natural language, for instance by asking for restaurants nearby.
- The options available for entering data depend on the navigation data and the country and language settings.
Please note: To use "Recent destinations" or "Favorites", you must be logged in to the vehicle with your driver profile (BMW ID).
