How was the display and operating system of the BMW i3 Sedan, available in the US starting 2027, designed?

The BMW Panoramic iDrive provides a completely new experience of BMW driver orientation. In the BMW i3 Sedan, four central elements merge to form a unique display and operating system. Just like the optional BMW 3D Head-up Display, the BMW Panoramic Vision projects driving-relevant information directly into the driver's line of sight. This eliminates the need for additional cockpit displays behind the steering wheel, which has now been completely redesigned. For the first time, it has a center spoke at the top. In addition to pronounced thumb rests, the steering wheel is equipped with multifunction buttons for particularly intuitive operation. The Free-Cut Design of the Central Display with matrix backlight technology is also positioned directly next to the steering wheel.
