In your 2024 BMW 5 Series or 2024 BMW i5 with BMW Natural Interaction, you can control selected functions of the BMW iDrive operating system with defined gestures. This increases comfort and reduces the potential for distraction by keeping your eyes on the road. Perform the gestures in the detection range above the front center console. With simple hand movements, such as "swiping" or "pointing", you can control voice dialogs or accept or reject incoming telephone calls. With a twist of the index finger, you can control the volume of the audio system. Move your outstretched thumb to the right or left to jump back and forth between titles. Two further gestures can be individually assigned with shortcuts, e.g. for mute/playback, destination guidance to home address or control display on/off. For easier operation, the control display shows currently available gesture control options. In addition, the system gives an immediate audible and visual response when you perform certain hand movements.
