Active Lane Change Assistant with Gaze Confirmation is an additional function of the Highway Assistant in your 2024 BMW 5 Series. If this is activated, your BMW will automatically maintain the desired speed, lane and distance to the vehicle in front on suitable routes. You can take your hands off the steering wheel as long as you keep a close eye on the surrounding traffic. This is continuously monitored by an intelligent interior camera. Depending on the traffic situation, the lane change assistant suggests a lane change. Active route guidance must be started for this. You can initiate the lane change by looking into the exterior mirror. Afterwards, you have to keep your eyes on the road again. The lane change assistant then performs the lane change independently by making the necessary steering movements and adjustments to the driving speed.
